About the Award

Her Abilities was launched by Light for the World to honour women with disabilities who achieved greatness and impact in their life or field of work.

Her Abilities Award was a flagship initiative of Light for the World that was awarding prominent women with disabilities in 2018, 2019 and 2020. By highlighting the achievements of women with disabilities, the Award aimed to celebrate their success and amplify their impact; challenge perceptions and stereotypes about women with disabilities; bring visibility to women with disabilities and their contribution to the society; build a network of women committed to the further pursuit of equality and excellence. The award is currently on pause.

Her Abilities Award honoured women with disabilities who, through their careers, their leadership and their achievements, have distinguished themselves by making a significant and lasting contribution to the world. In 2018-2020, nine brilliant women with disabilities became the laureates of the Her Abilities Award in its different categories: Arts, Culture & Sports, Health & Education, Rights & Advocacy.
