The first global award honouring the achievements of women with disabilities.

Her Abilities Award was a flagship initiative of Light for the World that celebrated achievements of women with disabilities in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Her Abilities Award aimed to give something back to a community who are so often sidelined or made invisible by society: women with disabilities. There are so many strong women with disabilities out there who achieve greatness every day. Her Abilities Award shined a spotlight on their extraordinary achievements and, in turn, inspired a brand new generation of women with disabilities.

Celebrating women with disabilities

The Award honoured women who are making a substantial ‘game changing’ impact in three categories: Health & Education, Rights & Advocacy, and Arts, Culture & Sports. We were celebrating women who have distinguished themselves by making a lasting contribution to the world – as professionals, community advocates, artists, educators, business owners, scientists, social entrepreneurs, leaders in the disability movement, leaders of grassroots partnerships and civil society and so much more.
